A HUGE thanks to all the Sponsors, Judges, Designers, Models, and volunteers of RedLine’s 2012 RePurposed Runway Contest! ICONS never looked so good! DeRiah Hair Boutique outdid themselves this year creating the hair and makeup that propelled these looks to new heights. We knew competition was fierce this year…. what we didn’t know is that a recount would be required, building anticipation. A single point literally determined the winners! Congratulations goes to Dan Eberhardt, named BEST OF SHOW, for his design MADE IN THE SHADE. Yep, that’s a couture wedding gown made from 35 different lamp shades and beaded curtains. You may remember Dan from last year’s contest where he used a twister mat and several other game pieces to make a very playful dress. Beautiful job Dan! BEST CONSTRUCTION went to newcomer and New Yorker Timothy Westbrook for his Mommie Dearest design, a stunning gown woven from reused yarn and cassette tapes. BEST USE OF RECYCLED MATERIALS to Lucy Jost for her Six Piece Samurai Suit, made of…. yes, plastic Target bags. Honorable mention goes out to RedLine’s newest Artist in Resident, Irena Manich, for Black Daliah, put together from 300 plastic garbage bags…melted with a very hot blow torch. Good Art, It Makes You Think!
